Midflight Proposal for In Flux by Maja Skjoth Hegelund 2025
Sensing and scripting myself into the airplane as membrane—
a giant prosthetic stretching all its passengers’ flesh.
Airplane, your insides are covered in softness.
So well-rounded. Pampering me into a childlike state while you hug me
My machines hum. Their mechanics breathe on my skin, but how do they carry me?
How do I surrender—
to be held, molded, to become another shape?
Softness and efficiency marry—and then they divorce. For now.
The inanimate has no awareness that satisfies me,
except in the midst of creation, or when I use it for something. I am so cold and its presence is spectral.
But so is mine.
What am I to you in a digital atmosphere?

I used to recognize you used to see me you never knew me
